Writing a Proposal

To write a successful proposal you need

  • time
  • the "call for proposal" documentation from the EC, which includes the proposal form and information pack; you can download this from the Cordis Fifth Framework web service
  • a clear idea for collaborative research which fits into the EC work programme
  • the ability to express your idea, concisely in English

There is a large response to Calls for Proposals and budgets are heavily oversubscribed; typically by ten times. In other words, only one in ten of the proposals receives funding, and this is often not at the level of funding that was requested.

The EC organises workshops on writing proposals.

In the UK, the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) provides information and advice on making applications for EC funding in the Information Society programme. Visit the UK online for business.

The Price Partnership can help you draw up a proposal. We have considerable experience in working up ideas, finding partners, writing proposals and managing projects. We have a high success rate with the proposals we help to write, and are willing to work on a speculative basis - no project, no fee. Please contact the Price Partnership if you would like to know more.
